Dear SSI-18 participants

Thank for attending the 18th Conference on Solid State Ionics held in Warsaw. We hope that you will remember this meeting as a good, inspiring and fruitful one. The Conference was attended by 640 participants from 35 countries, with largest groups coming from: Japan – 129, Germany - 80 and Poland - 79. The Conference contained 6 plenary lectures, 22 Keynote talks, 278 invited/oral talks, and 430 posters presented at Poster Sessions I and II.

For us it was a real pleasure to host you in Warsaw. We believe that, despite rainy weather during the Conference, you have enjoyed Warsaw. We would like to wish that will visit our capital in the future on various occasions: scientific, professional but also for sightseeing.

We would like to remind you about the submission of manuscripts for a Special SSI-18 Volume of the Solid State Ionics journal. The contributions can be submitted electronically only via a dedicated Submit a paper set-point in the Elsevier’s EES system, which will become active very soon.

Please strictly observe the following rules:

  1. only papers really presented (in oral or poster sessions) will be considered for the Special Volume (papers related to contributions submitted to SSI-18, but not presented at the Conference, will be rejected),
  2. the deadline for submission is 10 September 2010,
  3. please make sure to choose a “SSI-18 Special Volume” option,
  4. the length limit for contributions is 6 printed pages for Plenary/Keynote talks and 4 printed pages for other presentations (invited/oral/poster),

A rough estimate is that a printed page in the Solid State Ionics journal contains ca 7 000 characters (including blanks, references etc.), a typical Figure (e.g. a plot one-column wide) is equivalent to ca 1 200 characters. For all technical aspects please refer to the Guide for Authors on the Solid State Ionics journal’s webpage.

Thank you very much for being a part of the SSI-18 conference.
